The development of systems using profiled tubular steel sections means that the familiar static advantages of natural hollow structures, such as reeds and the bones of birds, can now also be transferred to structural elements. Moreover, steel has the highest module of elasticity of all materials used in construction: approx. 210 kN/mm2.
Cleverly designed section shapes resist buckling and torsional stress as well as providing flexural strength, thus absorbing almost all the common stresses and strains. The excellent static properties of steel allow the use of very slender profiled sections. This answers the architects' demand for minimal framework and maximum light.
Benefiting from many years of practical experience with profiled section systems, we have built up a model working relationship with companies responsible for supplying tried and tested sealing compounds, fittings, accessories and surface treatment. Today, end-users of our profile systems can rely on a fully-developed technology.
Hollow steel sections can be adapted to many functions over and above their original purpose. Fittings can usually be mounted invisibly. Industrial prefabrication means they are simple to use, and they save both time and money.
Steel also has many ecological advantages, such as a longer useful life, low energy consumption during manufacture, and easy recycling. And, of course, steel is extremely robust and highly resistant to mechanical damage (vandalism) in addition to its superior properties that make it sound-, burglar- and fire-resistant.
