Today e2v technologies is recognised as a specialist supplier of RF, microwave and sensing component and sub-systems with a strong, and in a number of cases leading, positions in global, niche markets.
The origins of e2v technologies can be traced back to the 1940s to the development of magnetrons for use in defence radar applications. Since this time we have developed a set of competencies, both technological and commercial, which have seen us demonstrate our ability to innovate and bring high technology products to market.
Our range of high-power vacuum tubes are the enabling technology behind a diverse range of applications from the transmission of TV signals to life saving cancer radiotherapy machines. We have also looked to provide our customers with value added product offerings, integrating power supplies and modulators around our vacuum tube devices. Examples of this are our Stellar, high-power satellite uplink amplifiers and the compact modulator for driving magnetrons in a range of linear accelerator applications.
Our sensor technology capabilities are extensive. We supply the ultimate in image sensors for space mission instruments, such as the Hubble Space Telescope, and for use by dentists to capture digital images of teeth.
Fire fighters around the world have grown to rely on our Argus® thermal imaging cameras for critical support in saving lives. We strive to lead the way with the performance of our Gunn diodes, the signal source for adaptive cruise control systems now found on the market in luxury cars
We operate from two manufacturing sites in the UK, where we employ around 1200 people. Our sales activity is truly global - we export over 65% of what we make - with direct sales offices in the UK, United States of America, France and Germany. In addition we have an extensive network of distributors, giving us a coverage in over 100 countries.
