The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber is the legal representative of the entire Austrian business community. Membership is compulsory and comprises of all Austrian companies. Some 300.000 businesses drawn from the areas of crafts and trade, commerce, industry, banking and insurance, information and consulting, tourism and leisure industries, transport and communication.
Based on the Economic Chamber Act the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber is a democratic, self-governing body, funded by its members. Thus the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber is business-driven and totally independent from public authorities.
This guiding principles ensure the best possible representation, coordination and balance of sector and size-related interests. Since the entire Austrian business community speaks with one voice through the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, the latter is the perfect interlocutor to address Austrian business and industry,
The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber is financially self-sufficient with around 85% of expenditure covered by member contributions and a further 15% by revenues from marketable sales. This factor, combined with organisational management through democratic self-government, makes us fully independent from public authorities.
The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber coordinates and represents the interests of the Austrian business community on a national and international level. Within the Austrian Federal Economic Chambers’ system it functions as the national umbrella organisation for the 9 regional Chambers (one in each of Austria's federal regions) and 110 trade associations for different industries. Regional Chambers and associations have local offices to provide services in close proximity to members.
