LOS ANGELES - SMTCL has announced the development of a new horizontal turning center, the EHC125300. SMTCL says this machine demonstrates the company's commitment to United States’ job shop customers by allowing them to get a large high-quality machine tool at a cost effective price.

Northrop Grumman has delivered mid-boom assemblies for NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope. Astro Aerospace, a Northrop Grumman business, designed, built and tested the graphite-epoxy assemblies.

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope is comprised of four major components — the telescope, the integrated science instrument module, the spacecraft and the sunshield. Construction will start this summer on Enbridge's 1,700-kilometre Line 3 replacement pipeline, the largest project the company has ever undertaken.

Several pipeline projects have been proposed to pass through the Prairies, though this will be the first to proceed. The $7.5-billion Line 3 replacement from Hardisty, Alta., to Superior, Wis., was approved by Justin Trudeau's Liberal government last fall, at the same time as the Trans Mountain expansion.

Pipeline Plastics LLC installed a new extruder at its Levelland, Texas, plant that can make high density polyethylene pipes with diameters up to 65 inches as part of a plan to expand its product offering and geographic reach.

The Westlake, Texas-based business had been producing pipes with diameters up to 24 inches but demand is growing for larger sizes from the water and oil-and-gas gathering markets in Texas and the region, company spokeswoman Patricia Isbell said in a phone interview.

NORTH CANTON The stalled NEXUS Gas Transmission project still could be completed before year’s end, but federal regulators would have to approve the pipeline soon to meet that target. 

“We’ve got that race car sitting there revved and all ready to go, we just need that go ahead,” NEXUS President James Grech said Wednesday during the Utica Capital Midstream Seminar at Walsh University.

Rosneft Signs Five-Year Tubing Contract

Russian oil company Rosneft has signed a long-term production casting and tubing contract with Tubular Metallurgical Company. The contract will run for five years and will start in the second half of 2017.
