Essar Steel to Supply Pipes for Gujar...

Essar Steel has bagged an order for supply of pipes to the Gujarat government's ambitious Rs 10,800-crore water management project, Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation (SAUNI) Yojana.

Under the programme, Narmada water will be distributed to 115 reservoirs across seven districts of Saurashtra through four link pipelines benefitting 10.22 lakh acres.

Business Journals reported that American Steel Pipe has started work on USD 55 million expansion that was originally announced last fall. Birmingham based contractor Brasfield and Gorrie was recently awarded USD 9.6 million building permit by the city of Birmingham, that will encompass the new building for the American Cast Iron Pipe Company division. The new facility will be 150,000 square feet when completed and will be the home of testing equipment including two hydreotesters, two ultrasonic testing machines and a new end facing system to bevel the ends of the pipe. Columbia Gas workers recently started a pipeline improvement project in Sandusky.

Here are some major details about the project, according to company spokesman Jason Copsey:

Project scope: The project aims to replace roughly 21,000 feet of natural gas mainline steel pipe with specially designed plastic pipe.

The pipes being replaced are between 50 and 60 years old.

Centric Pipe Plans $32.5 Million Expa...

Centric Pipe LLC is making a multimillion dollar investment in northwest Louisiana.

Gov. Bobby Jindal and SB International Inc. President and CEO Satish Gupta announced Wednesday that Centric Pipe, an SB International affiliate, will spend $32.5 million to renovate and expand the former Northwest Pipe facility in Bossier City.

Dallas-based SB International bought the facility in March. Centric Pipe will manufacture and supply welded-steel pipe and tubular products for domestic oil and gas clients. The new investment will add equipment and a rail spur to the facility, creating 82 new jobs, with an average annual salary of $50,000.
