Amiantit Wins Major Pipe Contract in ...

Amiantit Norway AS has signed a SEK115 million (€12.5 million) contract with Swedish municipal owned company AB Sydvatten to deliver Flowtite pipes for a 25 km long raw water pipeline.



Sydvatten supplies more than 900,000 Swedish residents with drinking water and the contract is one of the biggest pipe contracts for water supply ever awarded to GRP in Europe, according to Jarle Hausberg, MD of Amiantit Norway.

The companies plan to start the installation of the raw water pipeline in the summer 2015 and the pipes will be delivered in diameters of DN1400 and DN1600mm.

Vyksa Steel Works has produced the first batch of 355.6 mm diameter pipes for oil and gas pipelines. The pipes are to be delivered to foreign clients. The pipes, which have a wall thickness ranging from 5.6 mm to 12.5 mm, were produced on the modernized mill 203 to 530 in VSW’s third workshop. They were made from carbon steel grades produced by the Casting and Rolling Complex. TMK, Russia's largest maker of steel pipes for the oil and gas industry, reported it made a net loss of $7 million in the third quarter due to a $73 million foreign-exchange loss.

TMK, controlled by businessman Dmitry Pumpyansky, said July-September revenue was up 1 percent, quarter-on-quarter, to $1.5 billion.

In the previous quarter the company made a net profit of $60 million, TMK said in a statement.

Steel pipemaker Berg Pipe was awarded another contract for two pipeline projects in the Southeastern U.S., adding to the company's backlog. The deal calls for about 625 miles of pipeline to existing natural gas infrastructure in the southeastern U.S., the company announced this week.  

Steel would be shipped from multiple suppliers to Germany firm Europipe Gmbh's two Gulf Coast steel mills. In Mobile, the company owns and operates Berg Spiral Pipe and its sister company Berg Steel Pipe is based in Panama City, Fla.

China’s inflation data matched forecasts, and reports from the euro zone and US were mixed, exerting limited influence on copper market. Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant, one of the major seamless and welded steel pipe producers in Russia announced that its net profits reached RUB 3.231 billion in January to September period, in comparison of the net loss of RUB 883.576 million in the same period of a year ago. In January to September period, the company’s sales incomes amounted to CNY 65.004 billion, rising by 4.7% YoY.
