Essar Steel Secures Global Pipe Order...

Essar Steel reports it has received two major overseas orders worth Rs 400 crore for manufacturing specialised pipes, taking the total order book of its pipe mill to about Rs 1,000 crore.


The company "has received two sizeable orders from West Asia and Africa for manufacturing of API (American Petroleum Institute) grade steel pipes worth Rs 400 crore. This takes the total order book of the pipe mill to approximately Rs 1000 crore indicating strong order inflow," it said in a statement.

Saudi Steel Pipes Signs New Contracts...

Saudi Steel Pipes Co. reported it has signed contracts in excess of 215 million Saudi riyals (Dh209.4 million) with Saudi Arabian Oil Co., or Aramco, to supply welded steel pipes for lining oil wells and gas pipelines.



In a statement to the Saudi bourse website, SSP said the pipes will be produced by the first quarter of 2013 at its Damman factory. Raw materials would be supplied by Saudi Basic Industries Corp. or Sabic, the company added.



The pipe maker said last month its second quarter net profit slumped by 42 per cent as higher raw material prices weighed on margins.

Benxi Steel Group Lands Large Export ...

Liaoning Province based Chinese steelmaker Benxi Iron and Steel subsidiary Beiying Rolling Mill has inked a supply contract with a Middle East-based company for the export of nearly 10,000 tonnes of cast steel pipes with ceramic epoxy linings.


In April this year, Beiying Rolling Mill had booked an order for the export of 20,000 tonnes of the same products. To date, Beiying Rolling Mill has produced over 100,000 tonnes of the products in question for the export markets including countries in the Middle East.

Jiuli Stainless Steel Pipe to Produce...

Zhejiang Province based Chinese pipe producer Jiuli Stainless Steel Pipe Co announced that it has received approval for its planned AP1000TM project for the production of nickel based stainless steel pipes for nuclear power projects from China's National Nuclear Safety Administration.


According to the company, the project will adopt ultra low carbon and nitrogen controlled stainless casting technology to produce steel pipes for nuclear power projects.


In the first half of the current year, Jiuli Stainless Steel Pipe Co achieved operating revenue of CNY 1.288 billion and a net profit of CNY 76 million, up 17.11% YoY and 10.82% YoY, respectively.

Turkey's leading steel pipe producer Borusan Mannesmann Boru has announced its financial results for the Q2 and the H1 of 2012.


In the Q2, the company's net profit declined by 11.6% to TRL 15.03 million compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Borusan Mannesmann increased its sales revenues in the given quarter this year to TRL 369 million up 12.4% while its operating profit declined to TRL 22.11 million down 18.7% both YoY.

Ambrell, a manufacturer of induction heating systems, has announced that it will be demonstrating automated induction heating of stainless steel tubes using a robot at the IMTS, which will be held in Chicago, Illinois.



Ambrell will be exhibiting the system along with Nutek Industrial Systems, a specialist in automation and a part of the Ambrell Hardening Group. These two companies are part of the Ambrell Hardening Team, which also includes Induction Tooling, a supplier of heat treating processes and tooling.

Friedman Industries, Inc, a company engaged in pipe manufacturing, steel coil processing and steel and pipe distribution, reported first-quarter net earnings of $2.1 million or $0.31 per share, up from $1.8 million or $0.27 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Seymour Tubing, Inc., a division of a Japanese steel pipe supplier, announced plans to expand its operations in Seymour, creating up to 18 new jobs by 2014.



STI, which manufactures carbon and stainless steel tubing components used by carmakers, will invest $20 million to construct and equip an additional 51,000 square feet of manufacturing space at its current facility located at 1515 E. 4th St. in Seymour. As part of the project, the company will purchase new manufacturing and tube-forming equipment for the facility, which is slated to be operational next July.

STEEL chiefs have reiterated their plans to focus on high-quality products after announcing their latest results.



Tata Steel, which has a giant site in Brenda Road in Hartlepool, has posted its performance for the quarter ending in June this year.



They show turnover stood at £2.3billion for Tata Steel Europe compared to £2.2billion in the previous quarter, but sales fell by 4.9 per cent compared to the fourth quarter of the previous financial year.
